This collection ‘Cotton Ghosts’ is an abstract presentation of cotton sheets, shot in black&white. These ghost-like portraits emphasize shade, lines and depth as they stand at attention in their ghostly pose.
Remove the ideal that spectre are a Myth and envision the portraits of Cotton ghosts. The American south has a foundation built on two things, Cotton and the soul of Africans. These ghosts allowed me to engage and capture their depth in every crease. Speechless, these shapes pose, exposing intricacies, dark reminders and shadows of a time. A time of false dominance, fear, and shallow hope, still too common in today’s America caused by a ripple effect of the past.
