Sankofa
Sankofa is an African word from the Twi language of Ghana. It means "go back and get.". Also a Bono Adinkra symbol represented by a bird whose head is turned backward with an egg in its mouth. Sankofa is associated with the proverb "Its not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten". In modern context it's meaning translates to the understanding "one must know their past to move forward into the future."
